I’ve been challenged lately with what it means to a “good mom”… and what I’ve realized is that it isn’t about the mom who makes all homemade, organic baby food. It isn’t the mom that looks effortlessly beautiful in her all white, no-spit up outfit. It isn’t even about the mom that breastfed a certain amount of time, mastered potty training first or has never raised her voice…
Being the best mom, is simply about being your best self.
And being your best self is, at its core, a simple concept, but man alive it is hard! It is easier to stay the same, to coast, to be complacent.
It is hard to change your mentality, to create better habits and push yourself to be a little bit better everyday.
Not perfect, being your best self has NOTHING to do with perfection, but everything to do with stepping into the person you want to be.
We all aspire to something.
To be more patient. To have a nice garden. To get a promotion or open a business. To learn French. To live healthier. To master the tree pose. To be courageous. To be out of debt. To have an amazing marriage. To just make it to T-ball tomorrow night on time. To raise kids that are fulfilled.
Whatever it might be for you, in order to get there, you have to be intentional with your actions. That’s why I created The Happiness Guide. It is a simple way to set an intention for your day that will help increase your motivation, productivity and, of course, happiness.
The name might be a little corny, but it is completely true…when you pause to set a focus for your day that infuses just one of my 7 steps to happiness, you will begin to fill your cup back up. Improved motivation and productivity means you are taking steps towards that best self, what is happier than that?!
