Mom Struggling Well
Mamas on the Mic
Emily Thomas is a podcasting veteran now, she’s been encouraging moms since 2015. I love that Emily talks about real struggles in a way that lifts you up and never makes you feel guilty or less than. Every month they answer listen questions, I love going back through those to gleam little parenting tid bits. With over 200 episodes already available to listen to, you will definitely find a couple that hit what you are struggling through right now.
Here’s the Rest of the Interview:
Tell us how you got started podcasting.
Well, I was a homeschooling mom of 2 with an Etsy shop that wasn’t fueling my fire. I wanted to run away from home so I started a podcast where I literally talked to myself in my closet about why my work as a mom was important and encoraging myself not to give up.
What is one of your favorite episodes and why?
Episode 137: Mom Anger and Knowing Our Triggers with Wendy Speake is a personal favorite because mom anger is real and we all need tools to help us.
Another favorite is 153 with Shannan Martin, Surrender Suffering and Community. Community can be casual – it’s an actual thing that is achievable and it’s important to have people.
Tell us about your family.
I live in Texas with my husband, girl child and boy child. We have a pyredoodle named Tonks and really dirty floors.
What is your best parenting advice?
I get it. I know how it feels to struggle. I spent most of my adult life riding the struggle bus and sometimes I even drove it. It is possible to have a life that has both struggle AND contentment and joy. Perfection is a lie and peace is a perspective shift away.
If you could encourage one mom today, what would you tell her?
Don’t stop at struggle!
