Gotcha Mama Podcast
Mamas on the Mic
Amanda Bennett, host of the Gotcha Mama Podcast is such a heart felt and guanine person. I was very fortunate to be a guest on her wonderful show. We talk all about finding confidence as a mother – trusting your gut and your own intuition to know what is right for you and your family. This is such a tough topic today with the media bombarding us with how we “should” be mothering. But there is no right way, just your way! Check out the interview here and read on to learn more about Gotcha Mama Podcast!
Here’s the Rest of the Interview:
Tell us how you got started podcasting.
I’ve been listening to some great podcasts for a couple of years. When I decided to jump out of my comfort zone and start a business around supporting and encouraging new moms and moms with young kids, I needed a way to promote and market it in a way that felt good to me. Felt genuine and authentic. A way I could serve and help moms. My husband had done a podcast before and encouraged me to start one. Funny enough, as I’ve changed and my business has changed, the podcast is the centerpiece of what I do now. I love it!
What is one of your favorite episodes and why?
I don’t really have favorite episodes. I know that sounds way too diplomatic, but I honestly love all my episodes for different reasons. Every mom who comes on the show has something so special to share. There’s always a great takeaway from her unique wisdom and experiences. An episode that was especially meaningful to me was episode #4 Your Next Imperfect Step with my friend Ryan Swanson. Ryan and I have known each other since college, but since the birth of our daughters only months apart, we have reconnected on a deeper level. Her journey in motherhood, her career, navigating anxiety, finding her identity and where she feels purpose has been such an inspiring journey to watch evolve. Since our interview, she’s grown even more. And my journey with the podcast has grown tremendously too. Her journey, like yours and mine, is continually changing. I’m so proud of the work she’s done. Not only the work for herself and her own career and passions though. She continues to be an amazing source of encouragement, feedback, and support for what I’m doing with Gotcha Mama. I look back at that (very early) episode and can tell how much we’ve both grown in this season of our lives. It warms my heart and motivates me to keep going. Put aside the fear “messing it up” and go for it. LOL!
Tell us about your family.
What is your best parenting advice?
If you could encourage one mom today, what would you tell her?
I would tell her So much! To start with, You ARE a great mom! Nobody has it all figured out. Not even the perfectly put together Instagram mom with her beautiful pre-sets and matching family outfits (love you mamas too)! We’re all doing the best we can.
Also, seriously listen when I say this – Your mental health is important. Take care of yourself! There is courage in asking for help. Ok, I’ll get off my soapbox for now…
