Hello! My name is Kathleen Robbins. Supporting growing families is my passion, and it is such an honor to work with moms, dads, and babies during one of life’s most important transitions.

Bringing home a baby is such a special time, but early parenthood can be challenging. As a postpartum doula and Certified Lactation Counselor, I offer educational, emotional, and practical support to growing families. My work with each family is completely based on their needs and goals.

If you are preparing to welcome a baby or your family has recently grown, I would be honored to support you, too.

Q What happens during a postpartum doula shift?

Each family’s needs are unique, and I am here to support you. For one family, that may mean helping with questions about breastfeeding, and taking care of the baby and older siblings so the mother can get some rest. For another family, it may mean stocking their freezer with healthy meals so they can enjoy time with their baby and not worry about cooking. For another, it could mean helping the mother prepare to return to work after her maternity leave by figuring out a pumping schedule, daily logistics, and how to get their baby ready for daycare. Shifts take place in a family’s home, though I am also happy to run errands or accompany you to an appointment.

Q How long will you work with my family?

It’s completely up to you! I have worked with some families for one day and for others for months. Packages are customizable so you pay for however many shifts you need.

Q We need sleep! Do you do overnights?

Yes! My goal for overnight shifts is to maximize sleep for your family. If you are breastfeeding, I can bring the baby to you for feedings and then take care of burping, changing, and getting the baby back to sleep. For bottle-fed babies, you may wish to sleep uninterrupted while I handle all the baby’s needs.

Q My family lives nearby. I don't need a doula, do I?

Relatives are a tremendous support to growing families. My role is not to replace a helpful relative, but rather to provide additional help to allow you and your relatives to bond with your new baby. I offer unbiased support and will fully embrace your own parenting choices. Also, safety guidelines and general parenting recommendations are always changing, and I can provide research-based, up-to-date answers to your questions.
