Feature Friday: Dr. Matthew Flory
The more I learn about our health and how everything is all interconnected, the more fascinated I am in functional medicine. I like to think of functional medicine as a way to address the whole person. So many things impact our health, including what we eat, how we sleep, our stress levels, what products we use and the environment around us. Dr. Flory and his team of doctors at Functional Health Team address the root causes and looks at the emotional, mental and physical well being. I love what Functional Health Team is doing because they have all the different health practitioners at your fingertips!

Here’s the Rest of the Interview:
What made you want start Functional Health Team?
I personally experienced Autoimmune Hashimoto’s Hypothyroid, Depression / Anxiety, Liver problems, Blood Sugar issues, and Autoimmune Vertigo about a decade ago. I figured out through my post-doctorate training as a Functional Medicine Internist they were all related to fixing Chronic Inflammation that I didn’t even know I had. As I was returning to health I found that even my allergies I’d had since childhood simply went away over time. I decided that there was not very good support for people who have Chronic Inflammation related health problems. Even the natural doctors and those that have adopted the term Functional Medicine doctors far too often are merely treating symptoms with natural products. That why I call what I do with FHT “CAUSE-based Medicine.” That’s what makes our system unique.
