Here’s the Rest of the Interview:
What made you want to become a Chiropractor?
I knew at a young age that I wanted to be a chiropractor. I had family member that was a chiropractor. I loved going in to get adjusted. As I grew older, I started learning about the natural and holistic approach to healthcare that chiropractic embodied. I have a passion for helping people along their wellness journeys and chiropractic was the perfect avenue for me to do so. I love helping my patients regain the health they may have lost and educate them on how to keep it, as well as supporting people who want to continue living their healthy lifestyles.
What excites you the most about your work?
I work with a lot of women, and I love it! Empowering women to cherish their bodies and the abilities their bodies have is the best part of my job. I become much more than a chiropractor to my patients. I am often their cheerleader, therapist, health coach, friend, and so much more because of the level of trust we build with each other.
I treat a lot of pregnant women. I love being apart of a mom’s birthing team and encouraging her throughout pregnancy and her postpartum stage. I am Webster Certified and am able to offer that amazing benefit to my pregnant mothers. Webster is a specialized technique that balances the pelvis for an optimal and natural birthing experience. One of my biggest passions is newborn and pediatric chiropractic care. Moms bring their children in all the time, and I enjoy getting to work with them through all of their developmental stages and support their growing nervous systems. I have taken additional courses in pediatric chiropractic care and am pursuing my diplomat in pediatric chiropractic care. Disclaimer- I treat men, too! I often get asked this. I treat the whole family, as chiropractic benefits everyone!
What is your biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge I face is that not a lot of people know about chiropractic and its benefits, or fully understand the degree of its power. With that being said, I take a lot of time with my patients to educate them on what chiropractic is, how the body functions through its ability to heal itself, and the benefits of allowing it to do so through chiropractic care by addressing issues within the nervous system.
Tell us about your family
I am married to an amazing man, and chiropractor, Dr. Beau Fishel. We just got married in June of 2018. I also have a seven year old daughter, Riley Dee. She attends Christ Community Lutheran School in Webster. She is often found managing my front desk after school in the evenings. Both of them have been such a wonderful support for me since opening my own practice last year.
If you could pick anything, what would your super power be?
Transportation would be my super power. I do not like car rides or traffic. If I could just transport to where I needed to go, I would save a lot of time and energy!
What one piece of advice do you have for a mom that needs your service?
To all moms out there- I know how you feel. Being a mom myself, I know what it is like to live our lives for our children. It is a series of wonderful, selfless, and sometimes stressful acts of service. I love being the doctor that gets to take care of mom, because often times she is too busy taking care of someone else. Whether a mom is in pain or not, getting chiropractic care can offer so many other benefits aside from pain management, such as stress relief, immune system support, sleep aid, and so much more. I would love to support you through the journey of motherhood!
