With New Years resolutions in the air, you might be thinking OK OK I get it already, I need to be active! And if you are able to get out to the gym or a spin/zumba/yoga class, go you. Seriously, you’re killing it! I’m not..
I’ve had so much trouble getting to the gym lately, I feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day to do half the things I want to do and the gym is just another thing on the list. But I got a FitBit for Christmas and have been really trying to hit my step goal each hour.
You’d seriously laugh if you saw me…I march back and forth in my basement or do laps around our kitchen island. It might be ridiculous but I have felt so much more energy each day by getting up throughout the day and being more active.
So whether or not you can bench press 100 lbs (is that a lot? I seriously have no clue) today or run a mile, you can still see the benefits of getting up and being active throughout the day.
Be creative…dance along to your kiddo’s favorite theme song, walk the long way around or take an extra trip up the stairs. Get up, get going!
I first wrote this a year and a half ago and I wish I could say that I have hit the step goal everyday, gotten to the gym, and can go run a 5k tomorrow…but I can’t.
I have, however, gotten stronger and been more consistent in stretching and trying to move my body everyday. It’s not about being perfect, it’s all about making progress!
